The role and status of the antenna
The radio frequency signal power output by the radio transmitter is sent to the antenna through the feeder (cable), and is radiated by the antenna in the form of electromagnetic waves. After the electromagnetic wave reaches the receiving location, it is followed by the antenna (receiving only a very small part of the power), and sent to the radio receiver through the feeder. It can be seen that the antenna is an important radio device for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic waves, and there is no radio communication without the antenna.
There are many kinds of antennas, which are used in different situations such as different frequencies, different purposes, different occasions, and different requirements. For the many varieties of antennas, proper classification is necessary:
1. According to the purpose, it can be divided into communication antenna, TV antenna, radar antenna, etc.; according to the working frequency band, it can be divided into short wave antenna, ultrashort wave antenna, microwave antenna, etc.;
2. According to the classification of direction, it can be divided into omnidirectional antenna, directional antenna, etc.; according to the classification of shape, it can be divided into linear antenna, planar antenna, etc.
